The responses have been phenomenal. Thank you to everyone who has left comments! The news sent me into a tornado of smiling and girly clapping. This weekend, I’ve been steadily working on part three. The rough outline is there. I need to finish filling in the blanks. For those who don’t know, there will be five parts total. Once all of the parts are finished, I’ll get to do my favorite two things; revise and expand!

I began Status with a mission to write a short story under 5,000 words to submit to magazines. I started with the first line and finished with the last. I can honestly say I didn’t know what the story was going to be about until the bus scene. I had no idea what would come of Status when I first began writing. It was painful to have to condense the world of Blue Stevens into 12 pages. When the five parts are complete, I will take each section and add scenes that were cut out as well as details I previously omitted. So don’t think you’ll be seeing the same basic stories when the book is released! There will be fun surprises for everyone, including history on the characters, and life before and after they came to the compound!

Although this isn’t the first book I’ve written, this is the first one I want to get professionally published. It’s my goal after graduation this May! All others have been independently published. My best friend (who is an amazing graphic artist) Allo aka Allison Van Donkelaar has agreed to design the cover art. Thankfully, I already have someone lined up to help edit the final draft. I think she agreed to do it because she wants to know what happens before anyone else!

Again, thank you to everyone who has sent me messages and comments. It’s your words of encouragement that keep me writing. I live in the heart of fried chicken and mayonnaise country. No kidding. My mother has often been mistaken for Paula Deen. It hasn’t always been easy to hold the beliefs that I hold. I know South Carolina won’t embrace gay marriage or civil unions anytime soon. Regardless, I will do all that I can do to stay positive.
